The second-hand marketplace Members Express Displeasure Regarding Size Updates

Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.

The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Response

Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.

The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.

It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Previously, the sizing featured one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Shopper Experiences

A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
