19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his first trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a difficult period, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Victory also means the Russian has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle in the past months.

His retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five games to go ahead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

Moutet defended 4 initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
